Jane S. Roberts K-8 center enriches the community through educational excellence and continued commitment and support of our teachers, staff, students, families, and the community that we serve. The extension of the services that the school provides encompasses the needs of the whole individual and ensures academic, social, and personal growth within a supportive, creative, and flexible environment.

As your counselors, our goal is to implement prevention, intervention, and resources to maximize each student's full potential in our school. We provide bullying prevention curriculum, values matter curriculum, as well as hosted presentations on important social and emotional topics that are relevant to our student body. We will implement interventions in the areas of academics, attendance, classroom behavior and emotional well-being. It is important that we continue to work as a student services team to identify and address the multitude of needs our students and their families may experience by providing on-going referrals to community mental health agencies, social services agencies, etc.

MDCPS STUDENT SERVICES MISSION:

School Counseling services are provided by school counselors at every school PK -12 and adult/vocational/technical education center. School counselors assist students in the developmental acquisition of knowledge and skills that will help them reach their academic, personal/social, health and career/community potential. The ultimate goal of the program is for students to graduate with the competencies necessary to be able to make self-directed, realistic, and responsible decisions and to be successful contributors to society.

School counselors provide counseling services to individual students and groups of students. They also provide professional support to teachers, parents and administrators through consultation and collaboration.
